My Personal Thoughts on the RYSE Interview

This week Jeff Bishop & I had the opportunity to put RYSE, CEO and Founder – Trung Pham – in the hot seat on a live call. He didn’t disappoint and he actually dropped a HUGE exclusive announcement on the call.

1. Big Announcement – 13:35 mark: RYSE has been working hard behind the scenes for quite some time to get onboarded by the largest electronics retailer in the U.S. – Best Buy. Trung announced live that the contract has been signed and the rollout of this partnership should begin in the next few months. We can’t wait to see how this relationship unfolds, as Best Buy not only has a large online presence but also a dedicated in-store Smart Home section. Good for Trung and his team!

2. New Product – 7:35 mark: Trung stated, “Our goal is to really dominate the smart window covering space.” Trung also revealed the news that in just a week or so, their second product – the SmartCurtain – will be available. The creation of this product comes with feedback they’ve received from actual customers, as well as addressing the MULTI-BILLION dollar need from the world of the hotel/hospitality industry. As hotel rooms get smarter, the clear next opportunity is to get a RYSE SmartCurtain unit in as many hotel rooms as possible.

3. Z-Wave Technology – 18:10 mark: Like the ways we’ve consumed entertainment through the years have changed – VHS, laser disc, DVD/Bluray and streaming – the smart home world is moving beyond Bluetooth and Wifi. Trung shared how a new and more efficient way for smart home tech players to communicate with each other and devices like Google Home and Alexa are all moving to Z-Wave. Trung and his team shared how RYSE has adopted this technology, which gives them the ability to stay on par with the other large players in the industry.

These are JUST A FEW of the takeaways from our time with Trung. As I have connected with hundreds of founders through the years, it’s always pretty clear to me who has what it takes to grow and scale the dream and vision they have…

And if I’m being honest, Trung Pham is 100% one of those founders.

Now, I don’t have a crystal ball on what might happen with the smart home and window covering market, but I do feel confident that Trung and RYSE have some really exciting potential.
